A Glimpse Of Spring

Every February my friend and I look forward to visiting
our local nursery for their annual garden show.
It's a glimpse of spring that we all need this time of year!
We have lunch and then stroll through the garden displays.

Beautiful.

After the visit I bought some pretty Daffodils to brighten the house.
And, a few seed packets-
basil, cilantro, parsley to start.
My son gave me a great set up to start my seedlings this year.
How did he know, it was just what I wanted!
I never talked about it.
Recently he gave me my belated Christmas gift-
what a surprise-
a big over head light, various sized trays and blocks for starting the seeds.
Hopefully, I can get everything started this weekend
and before you know it we'll be making fresh pesto and salsa!
Everyone's favorites.

If you're experiencing winter storms-stay safe and warm.
And, if your lucky to be in a warm climate-enjoy!

Take care.

Summer Creation

I know summer is a long way off!
But, during this cold weather,
I can't help thinking about warmer days ahead.
Today the wind is whipping and biting!
A good day to stay indoors and work on some projects.

I made this bracelet for myself, to wear this summer.
Swarovski crystals and tiny silk bows.
Turquoise and green-
As I've said before-my favorite colors.

To me,
sitting down at my desk covered with colorful beads and ribbon
is like being in a candy shop.
It's inspiring!

Not sure what I'll work on today-
I have a few mixed media pieces started and set aside.
They're near my desk and when the feeling strikes,
I'll add something to them until I feel they're complete.
A couple of sketches are waiting to be painted
or there are always some jewelry pieces in the works.
We'll see!

Hope you're enjoying your weekend.

Tea Towels

I've been experimenting with my stencils again-
this time on tea towels.
This is the same stencil that was used on the candle holders in a prior post.

I found a 4 pack of cream cloth napkins on clearance at TJ Maxx,
one of my favorite places to shop!
They were put aside until I decided what to do with them.
Maybe they'd be nice with a stenciled design.
I'm happy with the way they turned out.

What are you working on these days?

Enjoy your week!

Trying My Hand At Crochet

Lately, I've been giving crochet a try.
It's relaxing, I usually like to crochet in the evening while watching a movie.
I'm not one to sit and watch tv-I need to be doing something at the same time.

Now, I'm new at this, but I'll let you see a bit of what I've been doing.
So far I only know one stitch and I don't know how to follow a pattern.
Actually, I haven't looked at one yet, first I need to get the hang of this!
Then we'll see about patterns.

I love this grey chunky yarn.
A handmade flower pin is used to secure the scarf.

The red and cream scarves (below) are infinity scarves.
The black and white piece is short, more like a collar which can also be secured with a brooch.
(I'll show you when I figure that out.)
Not sure what I'm doing, but I love to experiment!

Practice, practice, practice.
Sometimes one end of the scarf is wider than the other
or
I lose a stitch or two
or
some stitches are big and some are small!

Do you crochet?
How long did it take you to get the hang of it?

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!
