Valentine's Day Treats

Cream Puffs,
one of my favorite desserts to make.
I brought these to a Valentine's Day party
this weekend. They're always a hit!

 Cream Puffs
(Better Homes & Gardens New Cookbook)

Puff Paste:
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/8 tsp. salt
1 cup flour
4 eggs

Whipped cream, pudding or ice cream
Powdered sugar

In a saucepan combine water, butter & salt. Bring to boil. Add flour and stir until paste forms a ball.
Remove pan from heat and cool about 10 minutes. When cool add eggs one at a time and stir until well combined and smooth.

Drop dough by tablespoon onto greased baking sheet. Makes 12 puffs. (or cut size in half for mini puffs) Bake at 400 for 30-35 minutes until golden. Cool on wire rack.

Cut tops from puffs, remove soft dough from inside. Fill with your favorite filling, whipped cream, ice cream or pudding. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate.

I usually fill the cream puffs with whipped cream. For Valentine's Day I tinted the whipped cream pink. Half of the tops were drizzled with chocolate and half were sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Enjoy!

-Lynn

Today I'm Joining:
(I know this is a sweet treat, but the puffs can be also be used in savory recipes, for example creamed chicken)

Lynn, those look very tasty. I've never made puff pastry but you make it sound rather straightforward. I should try this recipe sometime!

What a cute idea to tint the whipping cream pink for Valentine's Day! Delicious looking cream puffs.

I haven't made those in so long The last time I had them, my poor 15 year old daughter made them, they flopped and she swore she would never bake again. Hahahah! Needless to say, she still bakes today 17 years later!
Yours look very, very delicious!
Hugs, Cindy

Do me a favor. When I go to the linky follower page and see your profile like I was going to follow you, and if you click on the button on your page to view your blog. The one in the middle of the page it is taking you to my blogger dashboard. Can you check on this and see if this happens to you. It is very strange.

I love cream puffs -- one of my very favorite pastries. These look delicious. The recipe seems simple enough, but I've always been intimidated by making them. :)

Have a great week!
