Necklace

 Hi Everyone!
Just thought I'd post a photo of a necklace I made this afternoon from
my latest flea market finds.

This brooch is so pretty & simple, it's a perfect center piece.

I took apart a piece of chain and added a few pearls from
another necklace.

Do you ever create something and then want to keep it for yourself?
I do that a lot!
But, like I said a few days ago, I need to reopen my Etsy shop this week-
I can't keep everything I make!

Ok, back to creating.
What are you working on these days?

Flea Market Finds

Hi everyone!
This morning I decided to make a quick stop at the local flea market again.
I had to run to the store and it was on the way, so why not-right?
Luckily, my favorite vendor was there and had a few goodies
that I couldn't resist.
Take a peek at my pretty little finds.

I love digging around the table of broken jewelry in search
of special pieces for my new jewelry creations.
My plan is to have my Etsy shop re-opened next week-
I'll let you know!
Now to get to work on a few more necklaces and brooches.

Hope you had a great weekend
and have a wonderful week!

Easy Apple Turnovers

Fall is my favorite season.
I love the cooler days, the turning leaves,
apple and pumpkin picking and baking.
I know, it's still summer, but once the calendar turns to September-
I'm ready for a change.
So, this morning I woke to rain and thought it was cooler out.
"That's it, I'm going to bake something today."
Well, it turned out today was 85 and humid,
but the air was on, so I stuck with my plan.
There were apples on the cupboard and pastry dough in the freezer,
so how about a few apple turnovers.
(Like I need a turnover-ok, I went to the gym this morning)

I've never made turnovers before, but figured they'd be easy-they were.
I found a recipe and made some changes,
cut down the sugar & butter, added cranberries and flour. Too much sugar knocks me out,
so when I can, I cut it down. Typically, I don't eat a lot of sweets-don't get me wrong-
I do love them.

Apple Turnovers

4 Macintosh apples-peeled, cored and sliced
1/4 cup dried cranberries (chopped)
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon flour (mix into brown sugar)
2 sheets puff pastry-I used Pepperidge Farms
1 egg white whisked with 1 tablespoon water
Sugar (to sprinkle)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Melt butter in pan, add apples, cranberries, brown sugar, flour and stir over medium heat.
Cook about 10 minutes (stir consistently), when apples soften, take off heat and let cool down.
Cut 2 pastry sheets into 8 squares. Place on baking sheet, add a few spoons of apple mixture.
Fold on an angle to form a triangle, press edges with a fork.
Brush each turnover with the water and egg white, sprinkle with sugar.

Bake for approx. 30 minutes.
Cool on wire rack.

Enjoy!

Sunday Finds

This morning I decided to run out to a local flea market
to see if I could find a few treasures.
I'm always on the lookout for a pretty pin, chain, pendant or key.

Today was my lucky day!

I'm always excited to find a few pretty items,
I feel like a kid in a candy store!

Now it's time to get to work...
it's always fun to see what creations will come from these pieces-
maybe a necklace, a bracelet, a brooch
or
maybe something in a frame.
We'll see.
I'll post as soon as I've got something to show you.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.
