A Casual Weekend...

Took a trip up to Rhinebeck, to dig through some antique and vintage shops and visit the antique fair.
Searching for bits and pieces to create some accessories.
Cute shops in town. This is where Chelsea Clinton was married. It was a bit crowded that weekend.

Beautiful home. Stuck my camera out the window-I was driving. Don't worry, there were no cars coming or going!

Since I was passing by the Vanderbilt, thought I'd get an entrance shot.

Might as well drive through the grounds. How grand!

View of the Hudson River from the lawn. A hazy day.

Weekend dinner-cous cous, my favorite!

And, grilled Coconut Mango Shrimp!

I'll have to make a quick trip back to the Vanderbilt. They have a beautiful garden. Maybe next week, depending on the weather. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Weekend Gardening...

Wow! Summer arrived yesterday-high 80's and more high temps over the weekend! Well, I ran back to the nursery for a few more flowers and the selection was getting sparse already. Guess everyone had the same idea! I'll still need more flowers, but it's a start. Here are a few of my favorite flowers and favorite color combinations. Happy gardening!

Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!

"What's For Dinner, Mom?"

Lately, the dreaded question around here is "What's for dinner, mom?". It use to be easy. My kids ate everything-chicken, fish, pasta, steak, lentils, sauces, etc. I loved to cook and bake back then! Actually, I still do. But, things are different around here now. Gone are the days when I'd bake a plate of chocolate chip cookies for a treat and the kids would be happy about it. Now it's chicken, chicken, chicken, fish, pork tenderloin. And, please! NO baked goods! Of course, fruit, yogurt, sugar-free fudge pops are fine. And, that's great. We all want our kids to have healthy eating habits. But, some days it's tough to be creative in the kitchen!  This is what I made last night-
Sauteed broccoli and tomatoes, in light olive oil.

Garlic

I took a chance and added a rosemary and garlic sausage! Drain very well.

Added shrimp, Barilla Plus pasta, crushed red pepper flakes & fresh shaved parmesan.
Everyone was happy! Bon Appetite!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

"Please make the rain stop. I'd like to go out and play!"
My little friend looks a bit sad today.

He'd rather be in the soft grass.

But, without the rain, we wouldn't have our beautiful gardens.

Although today, I'd rather be getting ready for a ride into the waves!

Or, lounging around with a good read.

Or, sitting on the sun porch, listening to the birds.

If it weren't for all this rain, my plants wouldn't be so lush.
So, I'm really not complaining-just hoping for a break! My tomato plants haven't made it into the garden yet! That's what happens when things get pushed aside! They were suppose to go in a few days ago! Instead I was probably enjoying the sunshine and taking photos! If we get a break tomorrow, the tomatoes will be planted. I'll put that on the TOP of my list! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Mother's Day...

A walk through the gardens at Vassar with my daughter. Wishing everyone a wonderful Mother's Day!
